Le mécanisme
The natural vitamin C in yuzu (50 mg/100 g) protects collagen from oxidation and stimulates its synthesis. The flavonoids (hesperidin, naringin) reinforce skin microcirculation. The volatile compounds (limonene, linalool) have a soothing effect via the olfactory system.
Tradition ancestrale
Yuzu has been grown in Korea since at least the 8th century. Its traditional production area is on the southern coast, around Goheung. Under Joseon, it was made into a beverage (yuja-cha) consumed in winter to strengthen immunity, and its peel was used as a facial wash for its invigorating effect.
