Synthetic derivative of lysine, initially developed as an antihemorrhagic agent. A recent discovery: applied to the skin, it powerfully inhibits melanin production. In just a few years, it has become THE anti-spot reference in K-beauty (notably Some By Mi, Numbuzin).

Comment ça agit, scientifiquement
Tranexamic acid blocks the interaction between keratinocytes and melanocytes by inhibiting plasminogen activator (PA). It thereby reduces the signaling that drives the melanocyte to produce melanin. Additive action with niacinamide and vitamin C.

Synthesized in 1962 in Japan as an antihemorrhagic agent. Its cosmetic use for spots emerged in the 2010s in K-beauty and J-beauty. It became a premium standard in melasma treatment from 2018.
