Le mécanisme
Salicylic acid is lipophilic: it crosses sebum and penetrates into the pores, where it dissolves plugs of keratin and oxidized sebum. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting COX-2 and limits the proliferation of C. acnes.
Tradition ancestrale
Originally extracted from white willow bark (Salix alba), used in ancient Greek medicine for its analgesic properties. Its modern cosmetic version arrived in the 1990s. K-beauty democratized it in gentle formulations (0.5 to 2%).
