The natural lipids that form 50% of the intercellular cement of the stratum corneum. Without ceramides, the skin loses its tightness and becomes dehydrated and reactive. BYOMA and IOPE have made them their signature: rebuilding the skin barrier from within.

0.5 to 3% of a skin-identical ceramide complex.

Ceramides integrate into the extracellular lipid matrix between corneocytes. Without them, skin loses water (increased TEWL). Topically, they reconstitute this cement and restore natural impermeability.

Histoire et usage ancestral
Identified in 1884 by Thudichum in the brain. First major cosmetic application in the 1990s by Japanese labs. Ceramides identical to those of the skin (NP, AP, EOP) became the gold standard from 2010 onward.
